The Teatro Real will host the performance of this comic opera on 3, 4, 6, 7, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 18, 19, 20 and 21 July 2027 in a fresh production that moves swiftly and is full of humour and is directed by Damiano Michieletto. The show is in Italian with English and Spanish subtitles.
As musical conductor, Giacomo Sagripanti is responsible for bringing the famous music by Gioachino Rossini to life, while the cast features leading voices from today’s lyrical scene, such as Marina Viotti, Isabel Leonard, Olga Syniakova, René Barbera, Pietro Adaini, Dave Monaco, Andrzej Filonczyk, Florian Sempey, Germán Olvera, Misha Kiria, Nicola Alaimo, Pablo Ruiz, Roberto Tagliavini, Maharram Huseynov, Alejandro López, María José Moreno and Lauren Randolph, among other artists.
Furthermore, the action takes place in the revolving façade of an apartment block, a stage device that adds dynamism to the constant troubles and is in perfect harmony with the breakneck pace of one of the operas most loved by audiences.
The plot revolves around Count Almaviva, who is determined to win over Rosine, a young woman under the watchful eye of her guardian Bartholo, who is plotting to marry her in order to get hold of her fortune. To do so, Almaviva turns to the resourceful barber Figaro, who comes up with a series of far-fetched but effective plans to outwit the old guardian.
Amongst disguises, misunderstandings and comical situations, Rosine ends up falling in love with the Count without knowing his true identity. Following a series of entanglements that unmask Bartholo, love finally triumphs thanks to Figaro’s shrewdness in a solution that is as brilliant as it is entertaining.
