As part of the Nights at the Botanical Festival, the Botanical Garden at the Complutense University (Alfonso XIII Royal Botanical Garden) will host a concert on 2 July in which the renowned American actor, Jeff Goldblum, reveals his talent as a great jazz pianist. The band, Take Me To The River will also be performing to pay tribute to the musical legacy of Memphis and New Orleans.
Best known for his acting career, having appeared in hit films, such as Jurassic Park (1993), Independence Day (1996) or more recently, Wicked (2024), Jeff Goldblum is also an accomplished jazz pianist who has already released three albums as the leader of The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra, a project that pays tribute to the greats of the genre.
Following in the footsteps of Nat King Cole, Dudley Moore or Michael Bublé, the American artist has been making a name for himself as a pianist for nearly a decade. His group, The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra, is rounded off with the vocals of John Storie, Alex Frank on guitar, Joe Bagg on bass, Kenny Elliott on keyboards, James King on drums and Scott Gilman on the baritone saxophone. To date, the group has released three albums: The Capitol Studios Sessions (2018), I Shouldn't Be Telling You This (2019) and Still Blooming (2025).
Take Me To The River is a project that takes its name from the legendary song by Al Green, performed by artists, such as Talking Heads, and it is considered to be a tribute to the musical legacy of Memphis and New Orleans. Promoted a few years ago by Martin Shore, the project brings together thirteen musicians and stands out for the combination of experience, talent and a commitment to education, which is reflected in the different initiatives developed.
