This cocktail bar is in the bustling neighbourhood of Malasaña, tucked away inside a shop selling esoteric items, where you can enjoy a variety of cocktails and concoctions with magical properties. To gain access, you must say the password ‘escama de serpiente’ when inside the shop, or ring the bell if the shop is closed.
The cocktail bar is tucked away behind a shelf crammed with all sorts of items. There, along with delicious concoctions, you can enjoy a laid-back dining experience with Mediterranean-inspired, cosmopolitan dishes designed for sharing.
This cocktail bar-store is spread over two floors. The upper floor, where the bar is located, pays tribute to the world of American artist Margaret Modlin (1927–1998), who lived in this Madrid
neighbourhood and described herself as ‘the greatest painter of the Apocalypse’. Here, you can see some of her most valuable original artworks.
In the basement, you can admire a Cabinet of Curiosities comprising cursed books, kaleidoscopes and enchanted masks from various cultures, among other objects. The shop also offers tarot readings.
