The flamenco dancer, Marta Gálvez will be coming to the Centro Danza Matadero - CDM on 25 and 26 October to perform a poetic and symbolic dance show that invites reflection on beauty, transformation and the life cycle. It is a journey in which Gálvez reveals different scenes of the beautiful transformation process undergone by the flower known as Lady of the Night.
Through the darkness and shadows of the night, Marta Gálvez focuses on the scenes in the transformation of the aforementioned flower. In the body of an elegant dancing lady, the artist invites us to travel from the twilight to dawn, which marks the start of the process of blossoming, passing through all the stages that make up this phenomenon, such as maturing, pollination or the emergence of the red fruits that will embellish the opacity of the night.
In connection with her being, with her femininity and with the memories that turn the performer into the flower that can be contemplated on stage, the artists who accompany her will take shape in the scenes created from the different languages of Spanish dance, from the search for beauty through the stylistic exploration of the bolero school to the play on structures that will take place in the most flamenco parts. All of this will lead to the closing of the flower, as a cyclical metaphor of a new beginning.
Marta Gálvez is a flamenco dancer who started dancing at the age of three. She studied at the Luis del Río Professional Dance Conservatory in Cordoba and at the María de Ávila Higher Dance Conservatory in Madrid. In 2015, she won the Outstanding Dance Award in the Tetuan District of Madrid Choreographic Contest. She is a member of the Andalusian Flamenco Ballet and currently teaches at the Villa de Móstoles Cultural Centre and at the Factory Ballet School.
