Estrella Morente, a leading light in flamenco music today, will be performing at the Capitol Gran Vía on 12 November, singing the greatest hits of her career.
Estrella Morente, the daughter of Enrique Morente and flamenco dancer Aurora Carbonell, already has an extensive career to her name and is one of the most important young flamenco singers on the scene today. With a crystal-clear voice, she moves with ease between suggestive warm tones and emotional phrasing.
She made her début in 2001 with the album Mi cante y un poema, produced by her father. Since then, she has released a further eight albums including one most recently in 2021, entitled Leo. She has also featured on the soundtracks of the films Sobreviviré by Alfonso Albacete and David Menkes, Volver by Pedro Almodóvar and Chico y Rita by Fernando Trueba. Her career has been paved with success and awards, receiving the Ondas Award for Best Flamenco Creation, and the Music Award for Best Flamenco Album.
She has also received two Amigo Awards and was nominated for the Latin Grammy in 2006. Her albums include Mi cante y un poema (2001), Mujeres (2006), Autorretrato (2012) and Amar en paz (2014).
She has everything it takes to be one of the truly great artists of flamenco and Spanish song: an exceptional voice, sense of rhythm, passion and curiosity to explore and incorporate new light and shade into her style.
