Located in one of the corners of Madrid's Plaza Mayor, at this restaurant, whose name dates back to the reign of King John II of Castile (fifteenth century) when the square was known as Plaza del Arrabal, you can enjoy the best traditional Spanish cuisine in the form of tapas and more elaborate dishes made using the finest ingredients.
Arrabal is spread over 600 m2 and two floors, plus a spectacular terrace. The main dining area, known as La Galería, has vaulted brick walls and a mosaic floor, which go beautifully with the green and wood tones of the chairs and tables. Throughout the year, it also puts on exhibitions of work by renowned national and international artists.
The large terrace, with incredible views of Madrid’s Plaza Mayor, is the perfect place for locals and tourists to enjoy lunch, dinner or have one of the many cocktails on the menu.
But the most charming space are the cellars, supported by the original brickwork from 1504. The cellars are divided into three different areas, which adapt to the needs of the customers: Salón Queen, Salón King and the exclusive VIP area, Reservado Prince, where you can hold any type of event.
The menu includes a wide range of dishes, from the sea and the mountains, based on Spanish cuisine, combining tradition and modernity. The restaurant takes particular care of the ingredients used and the presentation. One of its star dishes is cachopo (veal steaks, cheese and ham in breadcrumbs), which won the award for the Most Popular Cachopo in Spain in 2019.
Arrabal is also pet-friendly.
