Salesas is home to this original beer garden that stands out for being the first in Madrid to use leftover stale bread, along with other ingredients, to make its beers. All of the craft varieties of Cerveza Mica and the Mendrugo brand can be sampled here, whereby the establishment is named after the latter.
With a modern "taproom” design, the bar is a project by Cerveza Mica and Pascual Innoventures in which values like positive impact, innovation and circularity, with actions to reduce waste generation prevail.
The new establishment is aimed at craft beer lovers who are looking to discover the origin and history of the Mendrugo brand. They will be able to receive recommendations from the brew master and will be able to enjoy leisure activities that will bring the beer and craft culture closer to the public with tastings, talks by experts, pairings, etc.
Mendrugo beers are brewed with 100% natural ingredients in the town of Aranda de Duero in Burgos. Around 50% of the malt is replaced with bread, which is collected from different points of sale close to the town, in order to guarantee local and environmentally friendly production, in a clear commitment to Km.0. In addition to the mixture of bread and malt in equal parts, these beers contain water, hops, yeast, grits (other cereals) and sugar.
As well as its range of beers, Mendrugo has an extensive food menu, which revolves around beer and bread, for different times of the day.
