Brothers David and Mario Villalón, sommelier and mixologist, have been running this gastro cocktail bar (which is also a bistro and a wine bar) since 2017. Located in Chueca, it was named the best cocktail bar in Spain at the 2021 FIBAR awards and ranks 65th on the list of The World's 50 Best Bars 2024. They pride themselves on the creativity and sustainability of the spirits served here, also striving to make them as healthy as possible.
Angelita's cocktail bar is located in the basement. There, Mario Villalón and his team create a full cocktail experience using home grown ingredients, many of them from the family allotment in Zamora. They serve a very personal collection of spirits and cocktails combined with an international selection of wines and tapas.
After the success of ‘Identidad’, their ice-free menu, Mario Villalón and his team are following up with ‘Bebidas Vivas’, a menu that returns to the essential forms of nature: 20 cocktails related to plants, seen as living beings, seeking to harness their full potential with minimal intervention. This creates a dialogue between liquid, food and environment, since in the cocktail area you can also enjoy the menu from the wine bar on the upper floor, through the concept of a ‘gastro cocktail bar’.
On the top floor Angelita is also a restaurant. In the dining room run by the Villalón brothers, booking is essential, and you can choose to enjoy an early or late dinner under the concept of ‘fine dining’. With chef Alfonso Sancho together with Lis Benítez heading up the kitchen, the menu proposes several categories: Classics, such as pisto, Korean ssam, charcuterie and cheese; ‘Contemporary’, featuring more elaborate creations made using fresh fish from the market, cuts of premium quality veal and vegetables available throughout the season; and Daily Suggestions, made using ingredients grown in the family garden. There is also a tasting menu, composed of eight steps, which puts an innovative twist on traditional cuisine, made with seasonal ingredients.
Angelita also has a wine bar, where you can enjoy more than 2000 wines by the bottle and 60 by the glass -which change weekly- chosen by David Villalón and his team, or sample one of Angelita's culinary classics, without a reservation.
