Drinks in Madrid have never been better. Our city, a global culinary leader, is home to a vibrant cocktail bar scene that has positioned Madrid as a key player in the global mixology phenomenon. This appreciation for sophisticated drinks has firmly established Madrid as a leading cosmopolitan city.
The twenty cocktail bars featured on this map—all located at street level—showcase Madrid’s position at the forefront of the cocktail scene, though there are countless others dotted around the city waiting to be discovered. Many are tucked away inside restaurants and hotels, which have also become strongholds for the art of bartending. Gone are the days when the world of cocktails was relegated to the sidelines and barely a handful of trailblazers was left manning the bars. That generational gap is a thing of the past. The future of mixology is ensured, as attested by the wave of new establishments that continue to breathe fresh life into the city’s urban landscape. Bars are now more responsible than ever, and together we’ve built a network united by technique, hospitality and a commitment to sustainability.
We have cocktails to suit all tastes. It’s no longer about formality or exclusivity. Stereotypes have been shattered and what was once a passion has evolved into a true profession. This map attests to the harmonious coexistence of historic bars, local favourites, traditional spots, and innovative establishments. Our strength lies in diversity. From Calle de la Reina to Barrio de Las Letras—with Calle de Echegaray as its main hub—and extending into emerging areas like Lavapiés and Chamberí, Madrid’s cocktail scene truly spans the entire city.
