The indie rock and indie pop trio from Northern Ireland, which dates back to 2007, will be performing at the Nights at the Botanical Festival on 7 June at Complutense University Botanical Gardens (Real Jardín Botánico Alfonso XIII). There will be no shortage of their greatest hits, marked by their exhilarating melodies and addictive guitar riffs.
Two Door Cinema Club is an Indie rock trio created in 2007 in Northern Ireland by the guitarists and vocalists, Alex Trimble and Sam Halliday, and the bass player, Kevin Baird. At first, they went by the name of Life Without Rory and participated in the ATL Rock School talent show under that name. Shortly afterwards, they adopted their current name and decided to get rid of the drums, an instrument that was only used in live performances.
In 2010, they launched their debut album: Tourist History with which they confirmed themselves as one of the best up and coming groups on the BBC’s music charts, opening doors to festivals like Printemps de Bourges, Rock en Seine and Oxegen 2011.
In 2012, Beacon was released, which went to the top of the charts in Ireland. In 2016, Gameshow was released, followed by False Alarm (2019) three years later, with another twist to the European pop and independent rock sound, incorporating touches of synth-pop, new wave and electro-pop. In 2022, they released Keep on Smiling, their latest album to date.
With these two albums, Two Door Cinema Club have prolonged the saga of famous Northern Irish bands, following on from Stiff Little Fingers, Undertones or Snowpatrol, as well as Ash or The Divine Comedy.
