From 30 October to 2 November, IFEMA MADRID will present the first edition of MadHorror , an international festival that combines films, a congress, experience fair and a major celebration of Halloween. This event occupies an area of 25,000 m2 spread over Hall 14, the South Auditorium and a large themed outdoor area with activities, gastronomy and open air experiences, as well as the presence of major figures from the genre, such as Álex de la Iglesia and faces from horror films, such as Robert Englund and Linda Blair.
Over four days, the venue will be turned into an area devoted to films, video games, comics, the fantasy culture with haunted houses, exhibitions, a gaming area, master-classes, exclusive presentations, cosplay and make-up workshops, competitions, a Zombie Walk and a parade on the Day of the Dead. The fair and congress will be spread over different themed areas, such as the INFERNAL HALL, PAUL NASCHY PLAZA, XENOMORPHS HALL, MY FAVOURITE TERRORS FORUM or the LIVING DEAD and HAIL SATAN rooms.
The programme includes three big exhibitions devoted to references from terror and fantasy films. DDT special effects: 35 years in the fantasy-terror labyrinth brings together pieces and objects created by the Montse Ribé and David Martí studio, winners of the Oscar for the Best Make-up Special Effects for Pan's Labyrinth . The festival also commemorates the 40th anniversary of Aliens (1986) with an exhibition of original objects from the saga and pays tribute to Narciso Ibáñez Serrador with Chicho Ibáñez Serrador: His Favourite Horrors , an exhibition on his life and career, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of Who Can Kill a Child?
MadHorror will include the presence of great figures like the Spanish film director, producer and scriptwriter, Álex de la Iglesia , who will be acting as the official sponsor. There will be no lack of renowned artists related to horror films, such as Robert Englund (famous for playing the famous fictitious killer, Freddy Krueger in the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise), Linda Blair (known for playing the possessed girl in The Exorcist in 1973), Michael Biehn, Malcolm McDowell, Juan Antonio Bayona, Glen Schofield, Sandy Petersen, Jorge Fornés, Eugenio Mira, Míster Jägger, NeliWR, Javier Olivares and Ana Yubari , among other names from film, television, gaming , comics and content creation. With this proposal, IFEMA MADRID promotes an international, transversal and open project for all fans of horror, the fantasy culture and Halloween.
