As part of the latest edition of the Voices at the Real concert series, the Teatro Real will host a concert on 30 June featuring the Russian soprano Anna Netrebko, accompanied on stage by the pianist, Pavel Nebolsin. They will perform a selection of songs and arias by Russian, German and French composers.
Born in Krasnodar (Russia) in 1971, Anna Netrebko is a lyric singer who started out as a janitor at Saint Petersburg's Mariinsky Theatre (Russia). The orchestra conductor, Valery Gergiev took her on as his apprentice and she is now one of the best sopranos in the world.
Her vocal timbre and flexibility enable her to perform Bel canto and romantic roles, so she has appeared in works like I Puritani by Bellini, The Marriage of Figaro by Mozart, La Traviata by Verdi or L'elisir d'amore by Donizetti.
The Russian pianist, Pavel Nebolsin was born into a family of musicians and started playing music as a child. He won the Festival of Young Performers (1995) and the Classical Heritage Competition (1998). In 2008, he graduated from the Gnesin Russian Academy of Music.
As Best Accompanist, Pavel was awarded diplomas at the Levko Vocal Competition (2008), the International Festival of Contemporary Art and Education (Ruza, 2007), the Dvořák International Vocal Competition (Karlovy Vary, 2006), and the Glinka International Vocal Competition.
