New events venue in Madrid: Espacio Commodore

The iconic Mayte Commodore, located in El Viso, reopens its doors following extensive refurbishment. Espacio Commodore, a venue in Plaza de la República Argentina, is opening under the management of catering company La Cococha and offers 1,500m2 for company events, parties and the like.

The space is split across two floors, with a total capacity for 700 people in cocktail format or 350 people in a banqueting layout.

Espacio COMMODORE is a striking venue for its location and the architectural features of a building that has always been regarded as one of Madrid’s most elegant places.

HISTORY:

Mayte Commodore was one of Madrid’s most famous and prestigious restaurants in the 1960s, 70s and 80s. It was the place to be seen for high society, artists, intellectuals and politicians. After remaining closed for 15 years, this iconic establishment in Madrid’s most exclusive quarter is reopening its doors ready to become the capital’s favourite spot once again.

One of the contributions made by this legendary restaurant in its golden era was to set up a bullfighting prize for outstanding matadors at the San Isidro festival, as well as theatre awards, the “Maytes”, which the new owners intend to revive.

COMMODORE AND LA COCOCHA:

La Cococha Rocio Gandarias, a company with a long history, an excellent reputation and vast experience in holding events, is incorporating the newly refurbished Espacio Commodore into its range of party and celebration venues in downtown Madrid. This joint venture undoubtedly marks the start of a new era for the Commodore, one that has now begun and is set to be characterised by the quality, good taste and solid know-how of La Cococha, a guarantee of success for any event.
