Madrid is set to host 50% of the international conventions in 2016

 

In 2016, Madrid will increase its importance as an international reference in business tourism due to the fact half the international trade fairs are going to be held in Madrid, according to the annual cataloguing awarded by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness through the Secretary of State for Trade.

This information represents an increase of 14% in respect to the international trade fairs held in 2015.

As regard venues, the events are distributed between the Ifema and Feria de Madrid venues, hosting over 54%, followed by the Casa de Campo Park convention centre and multi-purpose trade fair venues.

It is worth mentioning the official IFEMA calendar for 2016 that includes one of its most international events, FITUR, held recently with record participation and the representation of 165 countries.

Following this, there is a series of important events for different sectors, including the International Contemporary Art Fair, ARCOmadrid, of which 72% of the participants are international galleries.

As a new feature in 2016, two other fairs organised by IFEMA have been granted international status, PROMOGIFT, the International Promotional Gift Trade Fair, and Madrid Games Week.

The autonomous region hosts a variety of events, including well-established professional trade fairs in different sectors like tourism, art, fashion, IT technology, automation, as well as others addressed to the general public.
