Madrid: main events of June

Last month of June, Madrid Convention Bureau provided logistical, media and institutional support to more than twenty congresses, conferences and meetings associated with various fields and subjects, both national and international, that took place in Madrid. Most notably, the ICPIC Conference, the IV International Congress on Military History, the 2017 of the Hemipteran-Plant Interactions Symposium, the 50th SEPAR Congress, the WISTA MED Meeting, on the one hand, and the World Mediation Summit, Inbound Leaders, AEVEA&Co (June 28th) and the Clarins World Convention, on the other.

Aside from the aforementioned meetings, Madrid also hosted three significant medical congresses in June: ERA-EDTA, EULAR and EHA, drawing 8,000; 14,500 and over 16,000 international delegates respectively. After the conferences, the Madrid Convention Bureau scheduled technical follow-up meetings with the organisers to hear their experiences and thoughts on the management of the destination, the services provided by Madrid suppliers, and takeaways from the participants. In general, the feedback was very positive and the organisers of all three conferences underlined the top-notch assistance from the professional tourist sector, the warm welcome on behalf of the people of Madrid, and the feeling of cleanliness and safety in the capital, which is highly commendable given the current international situation.

Furthermore, in terms of the conference calendar, MCB provided assistance during two technical visits from the organisers of international medical meetings that have been confirmed for coming years: the 2018 ECCMID Congress, with more than 8,000 participants, and the 2019 AO Trauma Meeting, with more than 500 delegates. Madrid was also promoted as a destination at the World Cryobiology and Biobanking Conference in Hefei (China), ahead of the event in 2018. Promotional actions were also implemented in Glasgow and Amsterdam to pave the way for two professional meetings that Madrid will be hosting in the near future: ESSR 2018, with more than 500 participants, and an international engineering conference that will happen in Madrid in June 2019 with more than 2,000 delegates.
