Madrid city of fashion

September in Madrid spells “fashion”, as it has done for several years; all types of events and activities take place throughout the month revolving around Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid (15 to 19 September).

MBFWM, the prestigious fashion showcase that happens twice a year will be holding its 66th edition. In September, designers will be showing their collections for the 2018 spring/summer season. Once again, new technologies will be a key element of Madrid Fashion Week, with live streaming of the runway shows on the official website. The fashion shows will be filmed in 4K resolution and have a high social media profile.

The 5th edition of Madrid es Moda (Madrid is Fashion) takes place from 11 to 19 September, a programme organised by the Asociación de Creadores de Moda de España (ACME), an organisation made up of fashion designers from all over Spain, who will be bringing fashion to the city through a series of urban events including exhibitions, special window displays, shopping events with discounts and fashion-related routes taking in museums and gastronomy initiatives.

The city will also be hosting the 9th edition of Vogue’s Fashion Night Out 2017 (7 September), the big night of shopping and activities centred around the area of calle Serrano (Madrid’s so-called “Golden Mile”) that has become one of the most anticipated events in the fashion calendar for its massive following and for the 30-plus brands that participate in its organisation every year.

Some of the other fashion-related events happening in the city include the customary street markets – Malamarket (9 and 23 September), Mercado de Motores (Motores Market) (9 and 10 September) and the design market Funny Tech (9 and 10 September).
