In May and June the Conference Department of the Madrid Convention Bureau submitted nine applications to host national and international conferences for the 2016 to 2019 period. Since May the Department has also won bids for seven new conferences that will bring to Madrid over 28,000 delegates from diverse sectors including air traffic, medicine, research, law and science.
Three site visits by the heads of three international associations were also organised. They came to find out more about Madrid’s infrastructures and support systems for large international congresses for the 2017 to 2019 period.

The Union of International Associations published their rankings for the month of June, with Madrid in 7th place. This brings Madrid up one place, with a 21% increase in events and conferences.
