Teatro Amaya and L´Operamore Company will present the third edition of this festival from 29 May to 4 August, with a special programme in which Zarzuela will be the main feature. With a live orchestra and vocals, this edition features four fascinating Zarzuela titles, culminating with the opera La Traviata, and an anthology by the name of Música, Maestra! Una vida de Zarzuela.
Following the resounding success of its previous edition, Teatro Amaya is once again hosting this year's festival, which has prepared a programme that includes the passionate drama, Luisa Fernanda, a masterpiece by the renowned composer, Federico Moreno Torroba; the enchanting Doña Francisquita, one of the best loved zarzuelas by audiences, inspired by Lope de Vega's comedy La discreta enamorada; the moving La Dolorosa with music by the composer, José-Calixto Serrano Simeón; and the iconic Spanish operetta La Gran Vía. Each performance will immerse the audience in the musical and lyrical richness of Zarzuela.
The programme is rounded off with La Traviata, the most performed opera worldwide, which is based on the novel by Alexandre Dumas, The Lady of the Camellias. To close this edition, an exciting anthology will be staged under the title of Música, Maestra! Una vida de Zarzuelafrom 18 July to 4 August.
