The Monumental de Las Ventas bullring in Madrid will host the world’s most prestigious bullfighting event: San Isidro Fair, which takes place for around a month from St Isidro’s Day, from 10 May to 16 June It is an event in which the leading names in bullfighting worldwide can be seen each year.
San Isidro Fair, which kicks off on 10 May, will host 21 bullfights, 3 fights with young bulls and 3 bullfights on horseback. The fair brings together a total of 59 fighters: 44 bullfighters, 6 horseback bullfighters and 9 young bullfighters. As for the bulls, 25 estates will take part, representing a total of 9 different breeds.
Rest days are also scheduled in the programme for Monday 13, 20 and 27 May and 3 June. The programme also includes the Extraordinary Charity Bullfight (Sunday 9 June), with bulls from Garcigrande for Morante, Castella and Fernando Adrián. For yet another year, the second edition of the In Memoriam bullfight will be held on Sunday 16 June, which will pay tribute to the famous bullfighter Antonio Chenel "Antoñete" .
Bulls from Jandilla will be fought by Manzanares, Talavante and Paco Ureña. The cycle includes the Culture Bullfight, the traditional Press Bullfight and, as a novelty, the Bullfight that will serve as a tribute to the National Police to mark the force’s bicentenary.
This year, Cayetana Rivera Martínez de Irujo features on the poster for the San Isidro Fair 2024. At the gala presentation Cayetana was presented with the "Youth and Bullfighting" award by Victoria Federica , last year's winner. The poster is the work of the Department of Communication of Plaza 1 - designed by Juan Iranzo. It is a tribute to the traditional bullfighting posters of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It is an authentic Spanish pictorial art of international renown.
