Born in Medellín (Colombia) in 1994, Camilo Echeverry Correa, known artistically as Camilo, is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who became famous when he won the X Factor talent contest in Colombia in 2007. A year later, he made his debut as an actor in the series Súper pá and in the soap opera En los tacones de Eva, as well as hosting the children’s programme, Bichos. In 2011, he went on to host the X Factor.
In 2015, he moved to Miami (United States) to continue his career as a lyricist. There, he wrote melodies, such as Sin Pijama by Becky G and Natti Natasha, Veneno by Anitta and Ya No Tiene Novio by Sebastián Yatra with Mau & Ricky. In 2020, he released his debut album, Por Primera Vez, winning the Latin Grammy for Best Pop Song of the Year for Tutu.
In January 2021 he released Ropa cara, whose video was directed by his wife, the singer, Evaluna Montaner, and Santiago Achaga. In March 2021, he released his second studio album Mis Manos, with songs that have become big hits, such as Machu Picchu with Evaluna.
His third and most recent album, De adentro pa' fuera (2022) is characterised by a varied musical style that fuses rhythms such as reggaeton, pop, cumbia villera, bachata and regional Mexican, among others. In June 2023, he released a deluxe edition of this album, which includes tracks like Pesadilla, Pegao, Alaska and NASA and collaborations with great artists, such as Alejandro Sanz, Evaluna Montaner and Nicki Nicole.
The Colombian singer has won six Latin Grammy awards out of fourteen nominations, which may well be joined by others in 2023, as he has four nominations including Best Latin Pop Album 2023.
