Madrid shop

The Tourism Centre at Casa de la Panadería in Plaza Mayor sells items related to the city under the brand ¡Madrid!. It features books on the history of the city, its architecture and museums as well as t-shirts, CD's with tunes inspired by the capital, and videos such as the documentary The Prado's First CenturyDifferent stationery articles based on the ¡Madrid! brand are on sale alongside tickets for the some of the most attractive shows running in Madrid and the Architecture Walks through Madrid tourist guides.

Madrid shop is open 9.30 am to 8.30 pm, 365 days a year and is hosted by specialized multilingual staff. There, visitors can purchase music -such as the album Always in Madrid, by the record label esMadridmusic, as well as jazz, zarzuela, chotis, cuplé and flamenco CD's-, maps and guides in several languages, books -for instance Arquitectura Madrileña, Del eclecticismo a la modernidad (Madrilenian Architecture, From Eclecticism to Modernity), Historia Breve de Madrid (Brief History of Madrid), El Madrid de los Austrias (Hapsburg Madrid), La historia de Madrid contada para niños (The History of Madrid for Children) or El Madrid de Velázquez (Velázquez's Madrid)-, as well as prints with images of the city and other merchandising items.

Products on sale at the shopDesigners' T-shirts

At this store, soon to be joined by two new shops in the Tourist Information Centres in Colón and Cibeles, visitors will also find t-shirts created by 21 of the best Spanish designers (Amaya Arzuaga, Roberto Verino, Jesús del Pozo, Devota & Lomba, amongst others), who have expressed their idea of the capital on a series of t-shirts sold under the brand ¡Madrid!.

For those who would like a little souvenir from their visit to the city, the shop also has magnets of some of Madrid's most important monuments like Cibeles, Puerta de Alcalá, the Royal Palace or Almudena Cathedral. There are also little notebooks in different sizes, and pencils and rubbers with the ¡Madrid! logo. The youngest members of the family will love finger paints, which will introduce them to a different and fun way to paint.

Tickets

One of the most interesting services this shop offers is the possibility of purchasing tickets for some of the most attractive shows running in Madrid. The service is rendered in collaboration with Top Ticket Line and offers users a hassle-free system for buying tickets for the most convenient dates without having to wait in line. Through the sales system, users can also see which seats are free and choose the most suitable locations. Some of the shows are top-selling musicals and plays programmed on the Madrid performance scene. The Prado's First Century

One of the latest products on sale at this centre is the documentary El primer siglo del Prado (The Prado's First Century), co-produced by esMADRIDtv and the Prado Museum in collaboration with López-Li Films. Directed by José Luis López Linares and narrated by Fernando Fernán Gómez, the documentary -filmed and post-produced in HD- reveals the keys to why the Prado Museum has become a cornerstone of the global museum scene and goes over the first one hundred years of the institution, structured around the exhibition entitled The 19th Century in the Prado.

Architecture Walks through Madrid

At the shop you can also purchase the tourist guides Architecture Walks through Madrid, a collection including three walking tours (Madrid Looking up to the Sky, Green Madrid and Art Walk) around the centre of the city, which have been published in collaboration with the Foundation of the Official Architecture Association of Madrid (COAM) in order to provide an original perspective over the city.

Palace Hotel Madrid

In 2012, the legendary hotel on Plaza de Neptuno will celebrate its 100th anniversary. To honour this occasion Pedro Montoliú and Enrique Domínguez Uceta have written a fascinating book about its history. With a prologue by Arturo Pérez Reverte and illustrated with old photographs, it is now on sale in the shop.
