The Madrid EDITION

The building that once housed the Monte de Piedad, located in Plaza de las Descalzas, is no longer a pawnshop so don't be surprised when you pass by and find yourself standing in front of a 5-star luxury accommodation. For its new purpose, it has been completely refurbished, but a large Baroque portico has been preserved on its façade, the work of artist Pedro de Ribera, which dates back to 1733. 

This establishment owned by the most exclusive hotel chain, Marriot International, boasts 200 beautifully decorated rooms and suites. Take note, it's also equipped with a gym, state-of-the-art spa and 350 square metres to cater for professional events.

On the fourth floor, you'll find a veritable oasis overlooking the rooftops of the city’s historic quarter. The restaurant Oroya, run by Peruvian chef Diego Muñoz, features a glass covered space reminiscent of a greenhouse. Tempting sharing dishes on the tapas menu take us through the cultural history of Peru, with Spanish, African, Italian, Chinese and Japanese influences. The restaurant's terrace, which offers stunning views of the capital, makes for an attractive green space with a fire pit and a gazebo covered with vines—perfect for relaxed meals with friends and family. You don't need to look far to spot the largest infinity pool in Madrid, next to the Pool Bar: an ideal area for enjoying cocktails and a bite to eat as you relax on one of the 60 sun loungers or 10 Balinese beds against the backdrop of the Madrid sunset.
