Madrid will host the Teqball World Series whose finals will be held on 26 May in Plaza de España. The best international players of this sport, which combines elements of football and table tennis on a curved table, will meet in the city that is hosting its 250th international event.
Organised by the International Teqball Federation (FITEQ), the event features the best players who will battle it out to win in each of the sport's five categories. Participants from countries in Europe, Asia, North and South America are expected to compete in the first major international Teqball event of 2024. Furthermore, the Teqball World Series in Madrid coincides with the tenth anniversary of this sport, which was founded in 2014.
The first three days of competition are scheduled for 23, 24 and 25 May at the Gallur Municipal Sports Centre. Over these three days, competitors will fight for a place in the finals of the different categories: men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles.
The finals will be played outdoors on Sunday 26 May in Plaza de España, at an event that will offer an unforgettable atmosphere for fans of the sport. Teqball's top players will try to take away a victory, along with the €30,000 in prize money.
In 2023, Madrid set the record for the largest ever number of participants in a Teqball event, with the exception of the world championships, with 177 athletes from 31 different countries. In this edition, the tournament will host 32 participants per category in order to ensure the participation of the highest ranked players.
