Singing in the Rain

Àngel Llàcer, Manu Guix and Miryam Benedited present their third musical with the Nostromo Live Company after La Cage aux Folles and The Little Shop of Horrors. An adaptation of the classic musical comedy, Singing in the Rain, considered to be one of the best films of all time, can be seen at the Teatro Apolo from 24 September to 19 February, with performances from Tuesday to Sunday. 

Following the original script by Betty Comden and Adolph Green, who based it on The Band Wagon series, the directors, Àngel Llàcer and Manu Guix, along with the choreographer, Miryam Benedited, have come up with a spectacular performance with all of the songs from the film, a great deal of humour, a large-scale stage design and fantastic dance numbers that take the audience to the early days of sound films and their secrets.  There will also be a system that allows 1,000 litres of water to rain down on the stage.

Its cast is rounded off with 30 actors and dancers who sing and dance to such iconic tunes as Make em’ Laugh, Good Morning or All I Do is Dream of You,  along with many of the songs from its soundtrack which are performed in original version to maintain their essence.

Once more, its plot presents Don Lockwood, a silent film star from 1928 who believes that he has it all: fame, fortune and success.  He currently forms a partnership with the actress, Lina Lamon, for the Monumental Pictures film studios, whilst his friend and former piano accompanist, Cosmo Brown, is the Head of the Music Department.

One day, whilst trying to flee from his fans, Don runs into Kathy Selden, an unknown theatre actress. In spite of not getting on at first, they end up falling in love.  At this moment, sound films make an appearance, leading to a cultural revolution.  Therefore, the producers want to turn the last film featuring Don and Lina into a musical.  However, this will be no easy feat as Lina has a terrible singing voice.
