Following the success of previous editions, the Río Babel Festival is back on 4, 5 and 6 July 2024 at the Caja Mágica for its sixth edition. This heterogeneous Ibero-American music festival will feature top national and international artists and groups like Juanes, Amaral, Andrés Calamaro or La Pegatina. As a prelude to the festival, the Road to Río Babel has been organised on 1 June, with performances by Green Day, The Hives, The Interrupters, Lagwagon and EMLAN, among others.
The Río Babel Festival is an event that was created to connect national, Latin and international music through a wide variety of artists with new musical proposals, ranging from Latin jazz or folk to Indie or reggae.
Great names from Ibero-American and international music will come together in this latest edition. One of the premises that Río Babel follows is to continue building bridges with Latin America, which is evident through the presence of Latin references.
The Colombian artist, Juanes will be heading up the first day, presenting his latest album, Vida Cotidiana as well as performing his greatest hits like A Dios le pido or La camisa negraNil Moliner will bring his third studio album, Lugar Paraíso; and the Argentinean rapper, Trueno will be one of the highlights of this edition. The line-up is rounded off with Akriila, another new voice on the urban scene; Caloncho from Mexico, Cardellino from Uruguay and the group, Morochos.
The second day of the festival will include the participation of Amaral, one of the most loved groups in Spain with a long track record and La Pegatina, which has announced that it will be taking a break throughout 2025, will give one of its last concerts at a festival. The Argentinean artist, Andrés Calamaro will visit the festival for the first time; and the iconic band, La Oreja de Van Gogh will run through its greatest hits. 5 July will be rounded off with the musician, Carlos Sadness; Depedro; the Indie rock group, Él Mató a un Policía Motorizado; and Rayden which will be giving one of its most special performances in which the artist will review his career and will present his latest album, La victoria imposible.
On 6 July, the final day will include performances by the rap-rave duo, Die Antwoord, which got together in Cape Town, South Africa; The Cat Empire from Australia; and the Argentinean alternative rock band, Babasonicos. Dub Inc will bring a dose of reggae and world music; and the power trio from Madrid, Gilipojazz will present the songs of its latest album. The Irish group, Two Door Cinema Club will also be presenting its latest album, Keep on Smiling; and the duo made up of Sandra Delaporte and Sergio Salvi with their electro-pop proposal.
The festival has also prepared Babel Comedy, which has become a classic in the programme. It is a space where fun and laughter are assured thanks to the country’s best comedians. Iggy Rubín and Inés Hernand will be back for yet another year, as well as Facu Díaz, Patricia Espejo, Laura del Val, Álvaro Casares, JJ Vaquero, Lala & Bertus, Pablo Meixe, Vanessa Valero, Héctor de Miguel, Miguel Campos, Raquel Hervás & La Prados, Sergio Bezos and Valeria Ros.
Like in previous editions, Río Babel is still committed to bringing together several artistic and cultural disciplines in the same venue, going beyond music. Comedy, performing arts and gastronomy round off the programme of the festival that has become consolidated as a regular date in Madrid’s cultural agenda.
