Las Meninas by Velázquez will be returning once again this year to the streets of Madrid. 2023 marks the sixth edition of this initiative, which includes a series of 33 original 1.8-metre-tall "Meninas" created by different visual artists, actors and actresses, chefs and athletes (Natalia Jiménez, Guitarchello, José Perea, Miguel Ángel Lirón, Roca Rey, Cristina Oria, Alberto Bueno, Eduardo Valcárcel, Tomás Paramo, María G. de Jaime).
"Las Meninas", the ladies-in-waiting to the Infanta Margarita present in the famous painting by Velázquez, are being reinvented once more. Far from fading into obsolescence, they are definitely keeping up with the times.
Meninas Madrid Gallery seeks to promoted talented new artists and to provide an opportunity for eminent professionals from sectors seemingly unrelated to art to show another side to them. It's also a perfect opportunity to wander around Madrid and discover new areas, local shops, and restaurants.
