Following its postponement in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID, the Mad Cool Space (located in Valdedebas-Ifema) will host the fifth edition of the Mad Cool Festival from 6 to 10 July 2022. It is a cultural event in which different artistic expressions come together in the same space in a sustainable and responsible way. Under the slogan, #ShineAgain the festival is back for five days with performances by more than 100 artists, including Florence + The Machine, Metallica, Imagine Dragons, The Killers, Muse, Placebo, Jack White, Queens Of The Stone Age, Pixies, Nathy Peluso, Twenty One Pilots and Kings of Leon.
Five days for all tastes
Numerous first rate national and international artists and different artistic disciplines in a unique setting is what awaits those who come to the next edition. In addition to counting on many artists who had confirmed for the 2021 edition, some of the most relevant singers and groups on the international music scene have also been incorporated.
The American rock band, Metallica, heads the line-up in the opening of the festival, along with the hip hop and indie pop duo, Twenty One Pilots, and the London alternative rock band, Placebo . On this opening day, other names include Carly Rae Jepsen, Wolf Alice and Yungblud.
On Thursday, 7 July, the pop rock indie band from Las Vegas, Imagine Dragons, stands out as one of the big hits of the day, as well as the new wave and heartland rock of The Killers, and british rapper Stormzy . They are joined by performances of the American alternative metal band, Deftones, the American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, St. Vincent , the Foals group, the Norwegian singer and songwriter, Sigrid and the Swedish artist, Tove Lo and Modest Mouse, among other names.
On Friday, 8 July, it will be the turn of the British alternative rock band, Muse and the Queens Of The Stone Age group. On this day, artists like alt-J, The War on Drugs, Haim, MØ, Jamie Cullum, Phoebe Bridgers and Parcels will also appear on stage.
On 9 July, performances by the rock group founded in Nashville, Kings of Leon , the British indie rock band, Florence + The Machine, led by the singer, Florence Welch, and the alternative rock group, Pixies, can also be heard. Sharing the line-up, there will be groups like Royal Blood , Zara Larsson, Editors, Animal Collective and Leon Bridges.
The festival will close in style on Sunday, 10 July. This is a special additional day that will include the artists, Jack White, Nathy Peluso and Natos and Waor heading the line-up, as well as performances by Sam Fender, La M.O.D.A, Arlo Parks, Tinashe, Recycled J and Tones and I, among others.
Furthermore, each day will offer the space known as The Loop, devoted to electronic and dance music. Great icons representative of the genre can be seen on this stage, such as Nina Kraviz , one of the most influential artists on the techno scene; the hip hop group from Seville SFDK ; the South Korean DJ, Peggy Gou ; the DJ, producer and pioneer in musical technology Paula Temple; the artist, Loraine James ; and the Australian DJ, composer and producer, Hayden James .
Mad Cool Festival was awarded the NME Award for the Best Line-Up 2018 by the British magazine, NME , one of the most prestigious magazines in the sector, for a poster that included artists like Pearl Jam, Arctic Monkeys, Depeche Mode or Queens of the Stone Age.
Mad Cool came about from the regeneration concept, becoming alternative in terms of content and form. It is a proposal for a society that has evolved towards innovation, quality and efficiency. It goes beyond the typical music festival and elevates the idea of shared leisure, proposing a new model in which the city and the environment are allies.
