The American Indie rock and spoken word band, Listener, presents its latest album at the Condeduque Contemporary Cultural Centre: Being Empty: Being Filled, released in 2018.
Born in Fayetteville (United States) in 2002, it was originally a rap project by the bass player, trumpeter and vocalist, Dan Smith, who used the nickname, Listener. A year later, he released the album, Whispermoon on the Mush Records label and collaborated with other groups.
In 2005, with his second LP, Ozark Empire, he embarked on a tour on which he invited the drummer, Andrew Gibbens, and the guitarist, Erik Olsen, to join him. This led to the development of a new proposal that gave way to a group that mixes words with the most independent rock notes.
Now the group is made up of the singer, Dan Smith, the guitarist, Jon Terrey, and the drummer, Kris Rochelle, as well as the support of the guitarist, Tim Stickrod. They have seven albums and three EPs. Their lyrics usually delve into the deepest emotions, the greatest fears, the most difficult challenges and unbridled hope.
