Starting at Paseo de La Castellana and finishing on Paseo de Recoletos, the half-marathon, which is included in the official calendar of the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) as a World Athletics Label Road Racerace, takes participants on a wonderful route past some of the city’s landmarks, including the Bernabéu Stadium, Plaza de Castilla, Calle de Serrano, Puerta de Alcalá gate, Atocha, Paseo del Prado (declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO) and the fountains of Neptuno and Cibeles. In 2024 it's set to be held on 7 April.
Kenyan Hillary Kipkoech (59:56) and Ethiopian Zewditu Aderaw Gelaw (1:07:38) won the 2023 edition in Madrid which took place on 26 March. The race's all-time records are held, in the male's category, by Ronald Kiprotich clocking 59:38 in 2021 and, in the women's category, by Winfridah Moraa with 1:07:22 in 2022.
Those who would prefer a shorter distance can run the 5.8K Carrera ProFuturo race.
