On 25 September, the area around the lake at Casa de Campo park and the Puente del Rey bridge will provide the setting for the Half Madrid Triathlon. This race counts towards the National Middle and Long Distance Ranking with a programme that consists of two races with no drafting permitted.
The Half Triathlon consists of 1800 m swimming in the Casa de Campo Lake, 83 km single lap cycling, and 19 km running on a route between Casa de Campo Lake and the Puente del Rey Bridge, taking racers through the Huerta de la Partida and Madrid Rio.
The Short consists of 900 m swimming, 40 km single lap cycling, and 10 km running in the same stages as the Half race. The two transitions will be located on the Football Ground of the Casa de Campo Lake, with the finishing line, handing out of numbers, and other services 1km from the transition.
With a limit of 800 registered participants, the start of the race will be staggered, with 30 participants setting off every 30 seconds. There will be general classifications for both races, established by category and by team, with the top three participants and the top three teams, both male and female, receiving trophies, with medals for the top three in each category.
The COVID prevention measures have been approved by the Madrid Triathlon Federation and are in line with those approved by the Spanish Triathlon Federation. Face coverings must be worn right up until the start of the race and as soon as the participants cross the finishing line. They must also keep their distance from other racers during the competition.
