disPLACE is a chamber opera written by Helena Tornero with musical composition by Raquel García-Tomás and Joan Magrané, which portrays the social drama of evictions and class difference.
With the collaboration of Barcelona City Council, the Institut Ramon Llull and Austria's Cultural Forum, among other institutions, the plot of this opera takes place in an apartment in Barcelona where two stories taking place at different times are juxtaposed. It shows how a well-to-do couple tries to survive a harsh economic crisis, and how years before that, the apartment is hosting a farewell party on the evening before another couple is evicted.
