This interdisciplinary, non-profit cultural space was unveiled in 2020 to showcase and promote the visual and musical work of young Spanish artists in the context of a global pandemic and which have not found a place in conventional cultural centres. It is part of the Habitación Número cultural project, which promotes emerging Spanish art in the suburbs of Madrid. This cultural activity is running through to 2024, when the space will partly modify its purpose.
Working hand-in-hand with Madrid artist RGB (popularly known as @3819etc) and Lava Art Project, this space has a varied programme featuring not only monthly artistic installations, but also concerts and DJ sets, LGTBI interview programmes, and weekly musicals, which can be streamed live through the Habitación Número 34 Twitch channel or enjoyed live and in person at the venue itself.
This atypical exhibition space, 15 m2, is located within commercial premises right on the street, with large storefront windows showcasing its contents inside. With a permanent installation of an inverted room (furniture literally hangs from the ceiling), here artists set up their site-specific interventions in the manner of artists-in-residence, creating within a room-studio.
Currently, the space is being used exclusively by its creator, who will also live there, and can be booked as a unique concept-hotel to "spend a night at the artist’s house and gallery".
