The old Chamberí Station and the Motores de Pacífico building make up Platform Zero, a project of the Madrid Metro in order to help familiarize people with the suburbs. Antonio Palacios designed the Chamberí Station, closed since 1966.
After decades of abandonment, people can once again admire brilliant, colourful, and luminous paintings. Walls, vaults, and billboards have been completely restored, as well as the premises and the original platforms. People can stroll down the station, from the ticket offices to the platform, and discover a 1919 station with its original pieces: ceramic billboards and antique furniture, together with audiovisual displays about the history of the Metro.
