Near the Botanical Gardens, linking Glorieta de Carlos V and the Retiro Park, you will find the Cuesta de Moyano. This permanent book fair, open every day of the week, dates back to 1925, when a line of wooden stalls was set up here. Measuring about 15 square metres, they had no electricity or heating at that time but over the years they have been replaced by others with better facilities, although similar in appearance to the original bookstalls.
In recent years Calle de Claudio Moyano has been remodelled. It has been pedestrianised and a bike lane has been introduced, making it an attractive street for those on foot. At the top of the street stands a statue of the famous Spanish author Pío Baroja.
