Welcome to Madrid
The Gourmets Fair, the largest event devoted to delicatessen products in Europe, is back with its 34th edition at IFEMA - Feria de Madrid, where manufacturers and producers of the fine food and beverages sector from all over Spain will come together. From 12 to 15 April 2021, IFEMA - Feria de Madrid will host an intense programme of activities, including competitions, tastings, presentations, show cooking, conferences, etc.
The Gourmets Fair is the largest European event devoted exclusively to delicatessen products and one of the world’s leading showcases for fine food and beverages. The Fair has a commercial spirit, aimed exclusively at national and international professionals from the hotel and catering, agri-food distribution, catering, specialised trade sectors, etc.
Quality products will be the main feature of this latest edition, focusing on market trends related to traceability, sustainability and innovative technologies. There will be a wide variety of products that follow this line, labels such as Crianza de Nuestros Mares (From Our Seas), Denomination of Origin, Protected Geographical Indications (PGI) quality labels or those prepared by ASICI, the Inter-professional Association of Iberian Pork, indicate the origins of the products and the production process until reaching the final consumer.
There will also be Gourmet Round Tables in the programme, where the latest gastronomic tendencies will be addressed with topics, such as veganism, km zero and healthy cuisine as well as learning the avant-garde experience and techniques used by emerging chefs. Wine will also be present under the slogan, New faces of wine in Spain and the Recognition of Spanish wine abroad.
The 34th edition will have new incorporations, such as the Burger Combat with bread from Lantmannen, a championship to decide the best hamburger chef in Spain, and the first Spanish Championship of Gourmet Pizzas, organised by Jesús Marquina. Okelan beef from Navarra will be present with the first National Competition of Grilling Masters which will determine who is the best in Spain and Asturian beef will feature in The Search for the Best Cachopo prepared with Asturian Beef.
There will also be the classics, such as the 27th edition of the Ham cutting competition, the 26th edition of the Sommeliers competition, the Oyster Openers, the Atlantic Cuisine by Estrella Galicia event, focusing on Galician products and the seventh edition of the Beer Pulling competition.
Since it was founded in 1987, the fair has been committed to fine food and beverages, bringing together the best of the sector each year. The 2019 edition of the Gourmets Fair exceeded all expectations: 2,023 exhibitors (+26% on 2018), 57,000 products and 107,050 professional visitors, up 18.7% on the previous edition and attracted more visitors than ever.
