Welcome to Madrid
The Madrid Tourism Fair is the global meeting point for professionals in the sector and the leading fair for receptive and issuing markets in Latin America. A great event that serves to inaugurate the international circuit of appointments around the world of travel. Fitur is a privileged setting for the global tourism industry and a business tool for promoting and promoting commercial agreements and contacts. But it is also that place that the general public should always pass through: here it is possible to find the perfect destination to enjoy your vacation.
Once again, FITUR's main axes will be sustainability, technology and specialisation, in addition to actions aimed at growing in professionalism, representativeness and internationality. One of the keys that has marked the evolution of Fitur has been the capacity that the show has demonstrated to recognize market trends and reflect them in its offer.
The growth of some of the sections such as FITUR CINE and FITUR FESTIVAL will continue to be deepened, in addition to monographic spaces such as FITUR GAY (LGBT +) and FITUR SALUD, as well as FITURTECHY and FITUR KNOW HOW where technology is shown as a necessary tool for the development of the sector. On the other hand, the FITUR NEXT Observatory continues to make progress in the identification and selection of good practices to promote tourism with a positive impact throughout the world.
Also noteworthy are FITURTECH, which will bring together the latest proposals in the technological field, and FITURGREEN, which will promote sustainability through energy saving measures in hotel and tourism management.
FITUR's growing international recognition was highlighted in the 2017 edition when it was chosen by the World Tourism Organization to host the inauguration of the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development, declared by the United Nations, thus strengthening its position among the most relevant events within the international ranking.
The second most important tourism fair in the world
FITUR has the unanimous support of the Spanish tourist industry. It is currently
the second most important trade fair in the world and the top-rated fair in terms of its impact in the Ibero-American context. Each edition brings together more than 11,000 companies from 165 countries as well as official representatives from many of the world’s nations.
It is also the biggest event in Spain around the tourism business, with more than 250,000 attendees from all over the world, as well as in terms of innovation and the promotion of new tourism segments, technological leadership in tourism management, and knowledge transfer tools.
Its representativeness is also recognised by the backing of the World Tourism Organization (WTO), based in Madrid; a connection that is also materialised in the framework of the WTO Affiliate Members Board, which is currently chaired by IFEMA/FITUR.
This annual event represents an economic impact of 330 million euros, with the consequent direct impact on the recovery of tourism and the invigoration of sectors linked to tourism in Madrid.
