Welcome to Madrid
There are many reasons why this fruit shop in the Salamanca neighbourhood is famous. Without any paid advertising, it has been featured on TV several times while frequented by celebrities like Paulina Rubio and David Beckham, as well as being one of the appointed providers for the Royal House (the princesses themselves have shopped there).
Open since 1943, this family business is particularly noteworthy for the quality and variety of its products. At the shop one can find over 200 different varieties, between fruits and vegetables, like asparagus sprouts, eight varieties of pears, nine varieties of apples and edible flowers. Its owner, Félix Vázquez, the second generation managing the store, is proud to have been one of the first in Spain to bring exotic fruits such as kiwis, papayas and mangos, over 50 years ago.
