Juana de Aizpuru Art Gallery

Instigator and promoter of Spanish contemporary art, Juana de Aizpuru is one of the most important gallery owners in our country. Pioneer in the collecting of contemporary art in Spain, she first opened a gallery in Seville and she opened the one in Madrid in 1983, which is now the only one that remains active.

Since her beginnings, she has specialised in new artistic tendencies and collecting, working with national and international artists, such as Cristina García Rodero, Cristina de Middel, Elena Asins, Alberto García Alix, Cristina Lucas or Jordi Colomer, among many others. She has participated in the most prestigious national and international art fairs, such as Frieze Art Fair (London and New York), Art Basel (Basel, Switzerland), Paris Photo, Art Lima, Estampa, Art Geneve

Aizpuru is responsible for the creation of ARCO, the most important national contemporary art fair. She has been awarded the Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts and received a Spanish Knighthood of the Order of the Arts and Letters.
