Atocha Station Tropical Garden

Upon entering the station, the traveller will be surprised to find a tropical garden surrounded by iron and glass. The former Atocha building for travellers was converted into a tropical garden in an attempt to enhance the station when it was reopened to house the High Speed train (AVE).

The station’s metal and glass structure covering the platforms made its easy to use it as a greenhouse with ponds. The garden is filled with several thousand plants, including 260 different species from America, Asia, and Australia.
