In The Homecoming, Pinter's refusal to give explanations or justify motivations is more patent than ever. He presents a situation - Teddy's return to the family seat, accompanied by his wife, Ruth - and shows the consequences of this homecoming, scene by scene. All of the action that follows is determined by the psychological workings of the characters. This is one of Pinter's most provocative works, in which he shows us just the tip of the iceberg in the dialogues between characters.
