It will have a clear socio-cultural function, in which the public is also a player, as well as an intercultural space reflecting the diversity of Madrid's population and contributing to the city's dynamism.

Matadero Madrid, as a platform and shop window for the best of the contemporary cultural scene in Madrid, is going to be eminently international, with a special focus on Latin America. This is largely due to the authors with whom it will work, its vocation to collaborate with other bodies and the repercussion many of its activities will have on the international scene. Matadero Madrid aims to reinforce the city's image abroad, becoming a new cultural icon and contributing to publicizing the increasingly important role which the city exerts as one of Europe's great cultural capitals.
