	The studios of the first Spanish television channel opened 50 years ago. Barely 600 receivers, located in a 60-kilometre radius of the Paseo de la Habana in Madrid (the technology couldn’t stretch any further), tuned in to the first images that were broadcast in Spain on October 28th 1956. On esMADRIDtv we are going to show you the best things about our city, a city that is open, friendly, cosmopolitan and dynamic. With better image and sound qualities, better possibilities for participation and interactivity and advanced television services (original version, language selection and subtitles for the hard of hearing), esMADRIDtv is the new digital terrestrial television channel that will, soon, on dial 50, offer Madrid’s citizens and visitors the most complete guide dedicated to culture, tourism, entertainment and business about our city. There’ll be no news, fiction, or any “other programmes” that are always included with the “excuse” of the ratings. There’ll only be Madrid, what “Madrid is” and what “is in Madrid.” You don’t need to change your antenna (simply adapt the collective antenna to set it to receive the signal of the new digital terrestrial channels with an estimated cost of 50 euros per dwelling). You can still use your conventional analogical television set (the cost of a basic decoder ranges between 50 and 80 euros, or around 120 euros if you choose an MHP decoder with which you can access the interactive services offered by esMADRIDtv and the rest of the digital channels). Or you can use a modern panoramic television set with integrated digital technology.
