Mindray, the Chinese medical devices developer and manufacturer, opens offices in Madrid, making it the first company of this type to set up shop in Spain. This is the company’s sixth subsidiary in Europe.

Mindray offers over 60 products across three business lines, namely patient monitoring devices and life support products, in-vitro diagnostic technology and medical imaging systems. The company intends to introduce between six and eight new products each year in order to expand both its national and international market share.

Mindray distributes over 40,000 products to hospitals, clinics and health centres in China and exports products to 142 other countries. Since its inception, the company has sold medical devices in over 190 countries. After launching its export efforts in 2000, Mindray’s international revenue exceeded income generated in China by the second half of 2007, the first time in the company’s history. In June 2009, the company employed 5,600 workers throughout the world. Mindray is currently expanding its distribution, sales and services network in order to bring its products closer to end users. The company currently has 29 branches in China’s main cities, as well as 12 foreign subsidiaries, namely in Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Istanbul, London, Mexico City, Milan, Moscow, Bombay, Sao Paulo, Seattle, Toronto, Vancouver…and now in Madrid.According to Andrea Warlters, head of the image diagnostic business in Spain, “Mindray aims to offer the Spanish market the opportunity to have cutting-edge healthcare technology that is in line with its economic possibilities. Mindray also offers this cutting-edge healthcare technology to users, bringing quality to this market segment and sustainability to the health system.” According to Ms. Warlters, Mindray’s success is largely based on its investment efforts: "Mindray invests approximately 10% of its annual revenues in R&D and has over 1,500 professional working to develop new products and technologies.”
