The band members are still in contact and the band has not split, although their last album was released in 2013, and they are currently working on parallel projects. They still get together now and again, and this tour is an unbeatable chance to watch them perform live.
Their sound has been described as a minimalist experience for the listener, creating music that some have described as drone rock and psychedelic rock. The result of Wooden Shjips is an astonishing experience. They have been compared on numerous occasions with Suicide Loop, The Velvet Underground, Soft Machine and The Doors.
When they started out, the band self-published and self-funded their first record, Wooden Shjips, going on to work with a few other producers to complete their subsequent albums. One of the highlights of the group's career was their appearance at All Tomorrow’s Parties in New York in 2010.
