The new season at Teatro de la Zarzuela, co produced with the National Centre for the Dissemination of Music, will include a performance by the soprano Violeta Urmana (Marijampole, Lithuania, 1961), one of the most important dramatic voices in the Italian and German lyric repertoire.
The mezzo-soprano has achieved great success as a lied singer in her solo concerts and lyric recitals performed at the biggest concert halls in Europe, the US, and Japan. Performing music by Mahler, R. Strauss, Wagner and Verdi, among others.
Urmana has received numerous awards, including the title of Österreichische Kammersängerin from the Vienna Opera and the Royal Philharmonic Society Singer Award.
She regularly performs at the world's biggest opera houses, such as the Metropolitan in New York, the National Opera House in Paris, the Deutsche Oper in Berlin, the Vienna Opera, and the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London.
