The current director of the Rennes Dance Museum, France, Boris Charmatz presents Twenty Dancers for the 20th Century, a collection of great solos from the past century performed in the halls of the Reina Sofía Museum.
Invited by the prestigious art gallery in Madrid and with the collaboration of the Community of Madrid, the famous French choreographer presents the most important 20th century dance scenes along with a group of 20 artists from contemporary dance, urban dance, folklore, performance and other genres. Throughout the afternoon, visitors can contemplate the works of art whilst enjoying the representative pieces that each dancer will perform somewhere in the museum.
Charmatz has created this show with the aim of giving dance a reflexive element regarding the movement and the place of the action, performing in unusual places, such as a library, entrance hall, or, as in this case, in a museum.
