At 83 years of age, the tireless Tom Jones returns to the Spanish stage with a performance on 17 June at the Botanical Garden of the Complutense University, as part of the Botanical Nights festival, to present his latest album: Surrounded by Time, released in 2021.
Born in Treforest (UK) in 1940, Thomas John Woodward, Tom Jones' alter ego, is one of the greatest singer-songwriters of all time. Known by the nickname of the Welsh Tiger, he has sold more than 100 million copies over the course of a career spanning more than half a century.
The Sex Bomb of British pop is living a second youth that he wants to exploit by conquering the new generations while demonstrating to the whole world that he has not lost any of his vocal power. Jones is one of those versatile soloists who can handle almost any musical style with ease. And his interpretations of pop, rock, country, soul and gospel are a testament to this.
He is a living legend who in the 60s and 70s was a sex symbol of the time and a recurring star at concerts in Las Vegas casinos (USA) until 2011. Between 1969 and 1971, he also hosted his own TV show: This Is Tom Jones. He has more than thirty albums to his name, for which he was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire in 1998 by Queen Elizabeth II, and was later decorated in 2005 as an important figure in British music by the monarch.
In Madrid, Jones offers a repertoire of his latest tunes and a selection of his best songs, as well as his unique stage show in which he spares no energy whatsoever.
