Lavapiés is holding Tapapiés 2016, the 6th Multicultural Tapas and Music Tour, where a number of establishments based in this neighbourhood offer an array of foods. The tapas you can taste during the event filled with music combine foods from around the world with traditional Spanish recipes.
Over 90 bars and restaurants take part of this culinary tour in the neighbourhood of Lavapiés. They’ll be joined, as usual, by the shops and delis in the markets of San Fernando and Antón Martín. The selection of 110 tapas from all over the world (including Spain, of course) are 1.5 euro each; add 1 euro for a half pint or a small bottle of Estrella Damm.
In the context of the festival, a total of 60 concerts will be on across Lavapiés on the weekends from 21 to 23 and 28 to 30 October in the afternoon. You’ll be able to listen to all the music styles you can think of: rap, raw groove, French world music, a cappella, swing, rock ’n’ roll and reggae, among others. Outdoor plays and circus shows complete the programme, which is especially targeted at the little ones.
Conveniently, many theatres at Lavapiés Barrio de Teatros offer discounts on shows on Monday 24 to Thursday 27, and some 30 shops that are members of Chollopiés are selling products at reduced prices.
At tapapies.com or the mobile app, you can take a look of all the tapas and watch videos of participating street artists. In addition, the app allows users to vote for their favourite tapa or performance.
As in previous events, a jury made of journalists and representatives of the catering sector will select the three winning tapas from a set of ten finalists.
Tapapiés is sponsored by Estrella Damm and organised by the Association of Shopkeepers of Lavapiés District 12.
