Madrid’s most popular race, San Silvestre Vallecana (SSV), is coming back with its version for children under 16. Previously held in 2008, the Mini SSV will take up to 2000 participants divided into categories, who’ll have to run for 100 to 1000 metres.
The children’s version of one of Madrid’s major running events will have an asphalt course that will be closed to traffic. The starting gun will go off between 10am and 12.30 noon for the various categories, from toddlers under 3 (with a parent) to teens aged 14-15.
Participants can register online on the official website until 23 December at 11.59pm – or until there are no running places left. The funds raised will go to the NGO Uno Entre Cien Mil and the HM Hospitales Research Foundation. They’ll use the money to help children with cancer, funding research and care services.
There’ll be trophies for the first three boys or girls to cross the finish line in each category.
