Íntimo is the name of the latest stage show created by Andalusian flamenco dancer and choreographer, Rafael Amargo. The main unifying thread running through this show is music, as different flamenco styles are fused with contemporary dance.
The flamenco show Íntimo majestically combines the purest roots of flamenco with touches of contemporary dance, a concept that moves effortlessly between tradition and modernity. His aim is to showcase the pure essence of modern flamenco. To do this, he looks at the purest roots of this art form with a combination of beautiful movements and carefully chosen music.
The artist himself defines it as a show that is “highly participatory, open to the public, not in anyway confined, but instead designed to show off the pure essence of flamenco”.
Rafael Amargo (Granada, Spain, 1975) is a prestigious dancer whose shows have received major international prizes and awards including four Max Awards (highest accolade for the performing arts in Spain): two for Amargo, one for Poeta en Nueva York and one for El amor brujo. He has also received the Positano Dance Prize (highest dance award in Italy) and the prize for the Best Dance Show awarded by El País de las Tentaciones for Amargo and Poeta en Nueva York, a piece that was also named Show of the Decade.
